I’m an Emergency physician who splits time between the resuscitation bay and the research bench. Some days I manage cardiac arrests and others I model cost-effectiveness. I completed a Master’s in Health Administration to better understand the systems behind the stretcher, and now focus much of my academic work at the intersection of clinical care, economics, and health policy.
I hold a Junior Clinical Research Chair in Emergency Medicine Health Economics at the University of Ottawa, where I lead research focused on how we deliver high-value emergency care. Many interventions like diagnostic pathways, screening programs, or operational changes, are introduced with little understanding of their broader system impact. My work uses health economic methods to evaluate which strategies improve patient outcomes while making the best use of healthcare resources.
Emergency departments care for millions of patients each year and consume significant healthcare resources. Understanding which interventions deliver the greatest value is essential for building a sustainable healthcare system. I am driven by the goal to ensure that emergency care delivers the best possible outcomes for both patients and the health system.
